Frank Tanana’s 1974 season showed a great amount
of promise for what he would become in the near future. People began referring
to a series facing Nolan Ryan followed by Frank Tanana as “Tanana and Ryan and
two days of cryin.” For Frank’s 1974 season, he finished 14-19, 3.12 ERA
with 180 SO. Most at the time believed his fastball was second only to Nolan
Ryan himself.
